Parts of a Freelance Work at Home Contract

One item that is particularly helpful for freelance workers is to have is information about the parts of a freelance work at home contract. This helps protect you in case someone may try to con you in some way.

With that in mind, here are the major parts of a work at home freelance contract:

Project Description-Here is where the details of a project will be placed. It should be very clear to you what is expected of you. This will help you avoid any discrepancies later on when a client tries to tell you the job is not done the way the client asks. If the client requires more from you this proves that you have the right to charge extract. (Of course this should always be dealt with politely!)

Project Quote-This is the price you would be paid for set amount of work. There may be a clause in here about how often you will get paid and how much is required down before you are willing to start the project. You can use this space to let clients know if you are willing to accept installments or if the project should be paid in full immediately.

Revision Requests-This lets clients who use your services know how many revisions you are willing to accept. This section might also give clients a time limit during which you are willing to accept revisions so that a year later you are not working on something that should have been corrected right away.

Due Date-Here is where the date of the project deadline would be posted. This tells you also when each phase of the project should be finished. This gives you a guide to work with so your client knows you are making progress.

Completion Date-Here is where the date that a project is completed is posted. This is done in order to verify that it is indeed done. This would be determined as approved by the client with a signature.

Signatures-The first signing would be upon the start of the project. Before you proceed, make sure the client reads the provisions of the work at home freelance contract. The second signing would be the client verifying that the project is done.

Additional Contract Parts

Depending upon the nature of the work at home freelance services you provide, you might put a warrantee or guarantee clause in the contract.

You might also establish your relationship as either “for hire” or “freelance” versus working as an employee. You might also want to include a contract exit procedure. This would further avoid confusion.
